Jose Marie Locsin Memorial High School, was established last June 20, 1994. It started it’s operation at the “Veranda of the World,”
for one month and then transferred to it’s present location. There were three teachers and sixty three pioneering students. The school was established and spearheaded by the Local Government Unit, under the leadership of former Mayor Marcelo G. Adanza. An area of Ten Thousand Square Meters (10,000 sq) was donated by a well known philanthropist Mrs. Ma. Luisa C. Locsin to the municipality of Zamboanguita and to the Department of Education Culture and Sports and was properly documented with the deed of donation entered between Hon. Marcelo G. Adanza, Municipal Mayor, Dr. Carolino B. Mordeno, Schools Division Superintendent and Madame Luisa Locsin. By February 14 1995, the three teachers appointment were transferred from the local to national items and from then on, all other items following are national items. By February also, the name Mayabon High School was change to Jose Marie Locsin Memorial High School after a Sanggunian Resolution, in favor of the donor’s late son Jose Marie Locsin. And now, the school is administered, supervised by the Department of Education, and supported by the Local Government and is responsive to the needs of the community.
